Why Travel With Eternal Peak?

There are many ways to reach Everest Base Camp.

What makes this experience different is the team behind it.

Since my first visit to Nepal in 2010, I have returned six times and completed the Everest Base Camp trek four times and the Everest Marathon three times. Throughout those journeys, I have worked alongside the same trusted local team led by Lhakpa Sherpa and his experienced guides.

For over three decades they have supported international trekkers, runners and Everest expedition climbers through one of the most demanding environments on Earth.

When you join an Eternal Peak expedition, you're not simply registering for a race. You're gaining access to a carefully curated experience delivered by a team I personally trust.

In the six months leading up to departure, I'll support you with monthly calls to cover training guidance, gear recommendations, packing lists and what to expect from the accommodation, weather and altitude.

Once you arrive in Nepal, you'll be looked after by Lhakpa and his team, whose local knowledge, safety standards and personalised support consistently create an experience that is more flexible, more comfortable and more enjoyable than travelling as part of a larger group.

Simply put, this is the exact team I continue to choose every time I return to Nepal.

The Journey

Your adventure begins in Kathmandu where you'll stay in a comfortable hotel in the vibrant Thamel district.

After exploring Kathmandu's UNESCO World Heritage sites and enjoying a traditional Nepalese welcome dinner, we'll complete our trek briefing before flying into the legendary mountain airstrip of Lukla.

Over the next 12 days you'll trek through the breathtaking Khumbu region, following ancient trading routes through Sherpa villages, Buddhist monasteries and some of the most spectacular mountain scenery on Earth.

The journey includes:

  • Lukla
  • Phakding
  • Namche Bazaar
  • Tengboche
  • Dingboche
  • Lobuche
  • Gorak Shep
  • Everest Base Camp

Carefully planned acclimatisation days are included throughout the itinerary to maximise comfort and safety as we gain altitude.

An Everest Base Camp experience few people get to enjoy

Most trekkers spend only a few hours at Everest Base Camp before turning around.

As an Everest Marathon participant, you'll spend two nights living at Base Camp itself.

Our private Eternal Peak Everest Base Camp camp includes:

  • Expedition-grade twin share tents
  • Private dining room
  • Dedicated camp chef and support team
  • Comfortable base camp facilities
  • Incredible views of the Khumbu Icefall
  • Front-row access to the excitement of Everest climbing season

This is an experience normally reserved for Everest climbers and Everest Marathon participants and is often one of the most memorable parts of the entire journey.

Race Day

On the morning of 29 May, runners gather at Everest Base Camp for the start of the world's highest marathon.

Standing at 5,364 metres above sea level, you'll join participants from around the world before beginning the descent through the Khumbu Valley.

The course winds past glaciers, suspension bridges, mountain villages and cheering locals before finishing in the bustling Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar.

Crossing that finish line is an achievement few people on Earth will ever experience.
